Participation of Ambassador Jeremić at the Conference: "Women and Diplomacy: Visions that Open Dialogue"
The event brought together ambassadors, professors, students and civil society representatives in Italy with the aim of discussing the possibilities of increasing the visibility of women in diplomacy and supporting girls who want to pursue this profession. The importance of women in resolving crisis situations was highlighted, as well as their contribution to peace, dialogue and security.
Ambassador Mirjana Jeremić spoke at the first panel dedicated to visions that open dialogue, together with the Ambassador of Turkey to Italy E. Ç. Ulgen. On this occasion, Ambassador Jeremić spoke about her professional diplomatic experience and presented positive figures regarding the political, diplomatic and economic empowerment of women in Serbia, underlining that our country is a leader in the region and is recording better results than some EU member states in this area. She highlighted the increase in women in serbian diplomacy, considering that about 55% of the total number of employees are women, including three Assistant Ministers and one State Secretary and that today about 35% of heads of diplomatic missions are women.
The following panels discussed African, South American and Mediterranean perspectives in this area, with a focus on the experiences of ambassadors, as well as their role in motivating younger generations to engage in international dialogue and engage in diplomacy.
